Eau Gallie Electric Buys 40-Acre Property From L3Harris In Melbourne
L3Harris Technologies has made another strategic shift in its Brevard County real estate footprint, completing the sale of a 38.87-acre property along Wickham Road in Melbourne for $13.75 million.
The buyer, Eau Gallie Electric, a local electrical contractor, now takes ownership of a site long associated with the defense contractor’s presence in the area. Although the land has changed hands, L3Harris is not pulling out of the location completely; the company will continue leasing space there, signaling a move toward a more streamlined approach rather than a full departure.
The transaction reflects how L3Harris has been reshaping both its operations and assets throughout the year. The company has steadily trimmed its real estate holdings while maintaining the facilities it still needs for ongoing programs and workforce support. This latest sale fits into that broader pattern, following a series of business realignments and divestitures designed to sharpen the company’s focus on its core technologies.
Earlier in 2025, L3Harris completed the sale of its specialized materials business to BWX Technologies in a deal valued at about $100 million.
Locally, the Wickham Road sale marks another chapter in the ongoing evolution of Brevard County’s innovation corridor. L3Harris remains one of the region’s most significant employers and a central player in its aerospace and defense ecosystem. By retaining a presence on the property while shedding ownership, the company is taking a more flexible approach to its physical footprint without disrupting its established role in the community.
The move underscores a broader industry trend: legacy defense firms continue to modernize not only their technology and business lines but also the ways they manage real estate and capital. For Melbourne and the surrounding area, the transaction represents both continuity and change—L3Harris stays rooted in the region’s economy, even as the company adapts to new priorities and new operational models.
