UCF Recognizes Walter Robinson With 'Entrepreneurial Alumni Award'
Walter Robinson, principal at Robinson Commercial Real Estate, was recently honored at the “17th Annual UCF Business Hall of Fame Banquet” in Orlando. In recognition of his successful career and achievements, Robinson’s alma mater presented him with its “Entrepreneurial Alumni Award.” The “Casino Royale”-themed event, hosted by the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Business Administration, attracted over 600 guests, including alumni, faculty, students, corporate partners and friends of the nation’s second-largest university, to honor its most distinguished alumni. With only three recipients, the prestigious “Entrepreneurial Alumni Award” pays tribute to accomplished UCF business alumni who exemplify commitment, vision, calculated risk-taking and growth potential.
Robinson’s tenure in commercial real estate spans more than 22 years, guiding investors and corporations in the development of office and industrial real estate in South Florida. He’s marketed and leased class A office buildings for such institutional owners as MetLife, Morgan Stanley, Principal Financial Group, JP Morgan and TA Associates Realty. Robinson’s work in commercial real estate continues to positively impact the local business community, earning the respect of his peers and industry, alike.“Walter truly exemplifies the commitment, vision and perseverance the Entrepreneurial Alumni Award is all about,” Paul Jarley, Ph.D., dean of the UCF College of Business, states. “He not only is an innovative and successful leader, he also is committed to giving back to our community and to helping the UCF College of Business shape the best and brightest real estate professionals.”
Before opening his own firm, Robinson climbed the ranks at Transwestern to become senior vice president of the national brokerage. While there, he was awarded “Champion’s Club” designation for becoming one of the firm’s top 25 brokers nationwide and No. 1 in the State of Florida. In 2011, Robinson brokered South Florida’s largest office transaction, comprising 125,000 square feet. In 2013, he ventured out on his own to launch Robinson Commercial Real Estate where he continues to advise investors and corporations throughout the tri-county region. When he’s not overseeing major commercial real estate deals, Robinson volunteers in a variety of leadership roles throughout the community and state. He serves as an executive committee board member with the Beacon Council, the official economic development partner of Miami-Dade County. He is a founding member of the Real Estate Council at UCF, where he supports the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate and the Institute for Research and Education in Real Estate. As the immediate past State of Florida Advisory Board Chair for Best Buddies International, Robinson leads the charity’s statewide initiatives to develop opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Robinson graduated from the UCF College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1990. He and his wife, Denise, live in Miami with their two daughters, Evelyn and Elena.“It’s humbling and personally rewarding to be recognized by my alma mater,” Robinson states. “Earning my business degree at UCF equipped and prepared me for the career path that led me to discover my passion for commercial real estate.
